The largest group of critters to winter over were the flying squirrels. These were in two groups: the first having been a very late litter that we had hand raised, the second a home invasion that we helped live trap out.
Again the task was eagerly taken up by Jude who built more boxes and found just the right locations.
This time it was Peggy who needed to do the climbing. These little squirmy guys need to be handled just so, otherwise they'd be running free in the trees rather than tucked safely in their new boxes. Of course the tree hopping would come later that night, but this way they new where they could find refuge (and a place to hoard their stash of food.
